Agentic AI in government just hit the hard part: deciding what a machine may decide

The UAE is two years into an ambitious plan to convert half of federal government operations to agentic AI. Over 100 officials recently launched implementation frameworks to classify which government tasks autonomous systems may complete versus merely recommend. While infrastructure exists — including systems tracking 150 million monthly data points — no government has yet defined accountability when autonomous decisions go wrong. The UAE will have to answer that question first.
