Startup Besxar Partners With SpaceX to Prototype Orbital Semiconductor Manufacturing

Startup Besxar, founded by former OpenAI staffer Ashley Pilipiszyn, has partnered with SpaceX to test semiconductor manufacturing in orbit, using space's natural vacuum to avoid costly terrestrial clean rooms. Having raised nearly $14 million, the company flew its first two small test canisters on a July Starlink mission. Despite a data system malfunction, flown wafer samples showed less contamination than Earth-produced equivalents. Besxar plans continued testing over two years, eventually targeting SpaceX's Starship for larger-scale production.
