Renesas Opens Physical AI & Robotics Lab in Beijing

Renesas Electronics opened a Physical AI & Robotics Lab in Beijing to help customers test and develop robotics systems from prototype to deployment. The Japanese chipmaker says its products currently cover about 30% of a humanoid robot's bill of materials, with ambitions to reach 70% across control, power, sensing, AI and software. The lab will support collaboration with robotics firms, universities and startups in China.
XPENG IRON humanoid robot draws record physical AI funding

XPENG's physical AI unit raised over $900 million at a $6.3 billion valuation, marking China's largest single-round private capital raise in physical AI. Led by IDG Capital with Tencent and Alibaba as strategic investors, funds will support R&D, data generation, and global expansion of its IRON humanoid robot. IRON features 76 degrees of freedom and 2,250 TOPS of computing power. Mass production is expected by end of 2026, with customer deliveries in 2027. XPENG shares have fallen 51% over the past year.
